Stephanie Stevens, Founder & President
After becoming a single mother of four, Stephanie faced the challenges many single mothers encounter—struggling to find stable employment, secure housing, and provide a loving home amidst uncertainty. When life felt like it was built on sinking sand, she turned to her faith for strength. In 2018, she started a small group to connect and encourage other single mothers navigating similar challenges. This small group blossomed into a supportive community, igniting her passion to do more. That passion led to the creation of Spirit within Her, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting and empowering single mothers through faith, support, and community.
Jennifer Johnson, Board Member
As a former single mother for seven years, she understands the challenges of doing it all on your own—and the limiting beliefs that often come with it. She was fortunate to have strong, supportive women come alongside her, and it made all the difference. At Spirit Within Her, she’s honored to offer that same support, encouragement, and belief to women navigating similar experiences. Jenn is a dedicated life coach, inspirational speaker, and workshop facilitator with a passion for helping individuals achieve their fullest potential.
Cathy Nordyke, Vice President
Raising her daughter as a single mother has been one of the hardest, and most transformative, experiences of her life. Along the way, Cathy discovered the power of community, deepened her faith in God, and uncovered resources that she never knew existed. These moments of support, grace, and growth helped shape who she is today. Through Spirit within Her, Cathy’s passionate about walking alongside other single mothers, sharing what she’s learned and helping them find hope, healing, and strength on their own journeys.
Angela McDaniel, Board Secretary
As a proud mother of five and a passionate advocate for women navigating the challenges of divorce, Angela brings both lived experience and deep compassion to Spirit Within Her. Having walked the difficult road of divorce, she understands the emotional, financial, and social challenges that come with it. Her goal is to provide support, empathy, and empowerment to other women going through similar transitions. Together, we can build a community that uplifts, encourages, and reminds every woman that she is not alone.
Lori Yoder, Board Treasurer
Being a single mom with two kids challenged Lori in many ways yet helped her discover unexpected strength. Now with one college graduate and another beginning their college experience, Lori is leaning on her faith to help guide other single moms in their own journeys. To Lori, this meant helping these women discover their own strength so they can walk the path of single motherhood feeling supported and loved. That’s when a conversation with a friend led her to Spirit Within Her. Here, Lori’s goal is to offer help in whatever way she can by walking alongside these single mothers with strength and purpose so they can raise their kids in a loving and faithful community.
